I took a dip in this raging pit and couldn't get closer than 20 feet to the falling water. Mui peligroso, No?... Yes.
After the rinse cycle, I dried off a bit and hiked back up to the top where my horse was waiting. About twenty minutes into the ride back, it was pitch black and the fire flies were out in droves - thousands and thousands of them. They sparkled and lit up the meadows on either side of the trail. It was really one of the most amazing spectacles. I put full faith in my horse as we crossed rivers that I could only hear. He'd occasionally slip on a rock and I just hung on and hoped for the best. It was like The Pirates of The Caribbean on horseback.
For horses, ask Señora Rossi (at Cabinas Rossi) in Arenal, Costa Rica.
